Voice of the customer – Feedback given by SV community – Spring 2013

·        Voice of the customer feedback

       Extend the time dedicated for presentations or don't limit the presentation's time
       Presentations 5 -10 minutes to allow more teams to present.  Post summaries on LinkedIn

·         The layout of each session should have more discussions (and less lecture)
      Community insert comments into LinkedIn presentations summaries.  Class discussion around these comments.

·         The syllabus should include a road map of the course and clarify the course's structure and its essence (should be less abstract)
      The Idea will be implemented to the Fall Syllabus

·         Allocate more time for team's breakups
      Give teams structured project-tasks to be accomplished during 30 minute breaks, and two 15 minute breaks for socializing.  Each team will have to report to the community (in presentation or on LinkedIn how they accomplished the task)

·         Get out the building (attend outside lectures or events as a community)

·         Use past student's experience
      Extend advisory board, use LinkedIn group of SV excellence

·         Part of the reading requirements was redundant since it wasn't discussed in class
      Use shorter articles with discussions on how to implement the ideas

·         Each team should have a weekly KPI (key performance indicators)
       Find KPI's that are common to all projects, and specific projects to be chosen by each team.  This could be a good class exercise in which each team suggest KPIs for their team and for other team, depending on their project progress stage.

·         Bring more guest speakers with industry experience.
       OK

·         Have more options for a make-up
       Assign makeus from a reading list not covered in class (Makeup Reading List).

·         Use LinkedIn instead of the SV forum. Centralize work in one platform.
      OK.  Use current forum as Class Manager (for example, Apologies).

·         Articles should have more practical industry tools rather than entrepreneurship ones.
       Use course tracks based on customer segments: entrepreneurship, intra-preneurship, and Grad-Research.

·         Devote time at the beginning of the course for personal acquaintance within the community.

·         Automate in-class exercise and make its information available to the community.  

·         Each session a selected team would be the expert of an article and would present it to the community

Last week, excited and enthusiastic, we've come to present to the community our accomplishments regarding the course project.

We would like to thank all of you for the support you have shown throughout the semester, including tips, constructive criticism, ideas and many other forms of feedback you have gave us.  

Moreover, your undivided attention last week, while our presentation, was amazing and the feedback at the end was overwhelming.

Volunteering is important and we intend to spread out the word - it is now easy, more accessible & more social to volunteer!

I just wanted to represent another site of volunteering activities, similar to our project (CharityWorks! Israel), but with only WORLWIDE activities.

We are now heading toward our summer break and if you have plans to travel to exotic places and you want to stay at a cheap place and also contribute to society this is the website for you.

I remember my first lecture I saw in TED. It was insightful lecture about poverty, but there was one more thing... We call it in the course "remarkable"... The result was a memorable lecture. 

Maybe it will add some cool ideas to our presentations in the course.

Course MVP metrics

I had an idea last class (17/06) which I shared with Alex and Ortal.
Ortal insisted that I'll write it on the forum for her to remember and for us to comment on.

I wasn't intending to do so at first because I would then actually generate more work for the staff ... :)

Basically, I asked them, if you're (the staff) always speaking about how some parts of the course are sort of a MVP themselves, like the bulletin board, the forum, etc. - What do you think about showing us your metrics and progression along the past few courses?

It occurred to me that it would be interesting to see how this "product" pivoted in the last couple of years or so and how our feedback is considered in order to improve it for the next courses...

I'm not sure about the doability of quantifying the stats of the past courses into measure values as they might have not been collected, or maybe partially collected, so one could also take this idea as a suggestion for the upcoming course and those after - Defining metrics and collecting data regarding the course MVP.

The metrics definition could also be a makeup assignment*, if somebody still needs to do one...

Make-Up presenations

.I will like to make a comment of a thing that bothers me in the course

Last Monday while Shahar presented his presentation of how he used the lean methodology we stopped him because he passed the 5 minutes. I was fascinating to hear about it, and heard others asking many questions during the break. It is not the first time we stop presentations cause the time limit. In my opinion the time limit should be a guiding line but not a strict rule because we lose relevant information.

Right, if the presentation takes more than 10 minutes we might want to stop it, but I don't think it was the case in any of the presentation.

Don’t worry. The fact that your financial achievements have not brought you contentment does not mean that you’re a hippie. Social scientists have long been troubled by the finding that people basically think money will bring them happiness but it does so less than they expect.

There are two possibilities: First, that money cannot buy happiness. Second, that money can buy some happiness, but people just don’t know how to use it that way. The good news is that this seems to be the correct answer.

In their fascinating book “Happy Money: The Science of Smarter Spending,” Elizabeth Dunn and Michael Norton say there are two ways to get more happiness out of our money. The first is to buy less stuff and more experiences. We buy a sofa instead of a ski trip, not taking into account that we will get used to the sofa very quickly and that it will stop being a source of happiness, while the vacation will likely stay in our minds for a long time.

Second, and more interesting, Drs. Dunn and Norton demonstrate that we just don’t give enough money away. Which of these would make you happier: buying a cup of fancy coffee for yourself, buying one for a stranger, or buying one for a good friend? Buying a cup of coffee for yourself is the worst. Buying for a stranger will linger in your mind and make you happier for a longer time, and buying for a friend is the best—it would also increase your social connection, friendship and long-run happiness.

So money can buy happiness—if we use it right.

Hi Community,

Semester ends next month and with it also ends sadly our course.

We talked a lot about the importance of information sharing with the community.

In my opinion, in order to continue the cooperation between us, even after completion the course, we need to keep our friendship as well.

I volunteered to bring a digital camera to the next lesson and to take a picture of all of us. I will post the picture in the forum, and in a few months when we want to ask for help each other, we can recall the lectures where we learned together and it will make us feel more comfortable to contact each other.

If you have any other ideas I'd love to hear.
