Dear Teaching team!
I would like to thank you for all your hard work and for creating a unique and unusual course!
I could never encountered such a course in the computer science faculty and do such creative things.

It's been a pleasure studying this course and I'm sure I won't forget it.
THANK YOU! Yael Bessen :)

An Inconvenient Truth - make up assignment

Hello class

I would like to share with you and excellent movie about global warming called "An Inconvenient Truth". I'm sure some of you have already seen it, but for those who haven't, this is a movie by Al Gore who tells horrifying facts about the damage we cause to the Earth and about some shocking consequences it makes. This movie is not just interesting, educating and a real eye opener to the environment, but also a great example how someone can build a great speech while talking about complicated topics using KISS.
Here is a couple of links to some selected parts from the movie, I hope it will encourage you to see it whole:

Apology

Hello class
I would like to apologize because I have to leave earlier the class on January 27.

Katia

Gas is so expansive!!

We all get angry with the price of gas in Israel,
reducing the price is not in our hand, but saving is.
people are not aware  but smart use in the car and fulling buy the instruction in the next video can save up t o 20% of the gas expanses

Thank you Marina and Irit - Great tips !!

I want to thank 2 students that gave excellent tips:

Irit:

The last job searching process that I went throw was long and exhausting. I am now on a lookout for a new job and I will definitely going to use your tips .
Furthermore, I liked the article about Viral marketing – I just heard a lecture about it few weeks ago, and it’s the next thing in Marketing.

"Done, Not Done"

I've found Meitals' make-up assignment/tip on Teux Deux very helpful – Thank you!
I've tried the Internet version you've recommended and  kept pushing forward my daily tasks :(    - they should block this option! :-)
On the same manner I've came across "Done, Not Done" which is a new and free web service which declares itself as a task list for things you want to do, as opposed to those you need. Like books to read, movies to see, and it's time to listen to music. It got into a pretty crowded niche of social recommendation engines, which a lot failed in, but just for its' non-committal attitude and cute interface it has a chance.

100% social business

I would like to introduce you a new company called: “100% social business”.
The company sells office equipment in decent prices and good quality. From the company’s profits it contributes to the community by donating 75%. The client can choose the society that will receive the donation – education, culture, health and a variety of other options.
The goal of the company is to transfer financial resources from the business section to the third sector.
One of the most valuable principles the company is based on is transparency. It relates to what we discussed in class but in a different way; The company relies on people’s trust that their money is being handled as promised. Therefore the transparency principle is crucial to company success and allows the entire community to examine her social activity and use of excess.
I invite you to join this social business and contribute to the community!
You can find more information in the company’s website: www.100achuz.co.il/
or in the facebook page: www.facebook.com/100SocialBusiness.

Do you think in economics?

You may have read or heard about the bestseller "Freakonomics" and the second book "SuperFreakonomics" which elaborate the riddles of everyday life and reach conclusions that turn conventional wisdom on its head.
This way of describing the economic dimensions of everything doesn't end at this point. On the contrary, there is a whole blog full of interesting ideas on http://www.freakonomics.com/.

My make-up assignment is about changing a job. Most of us are going to finish study this year and need to find/replace jobs. Sometimes it seems scary to replacin our work place, we afraid to stay out of job, and also afraid to come to a new place. Because of this fear a lot of people stayed at their jobs even that they are not happy. In some cases people even stay all their life at work they don’t like just because the wrong fear of changing work place. I can tell that before few months I had a boring job that I didn’t liked, and I had an option to start a new one. At the beginning I was afraid to leave my job after I got familiar with the work, the colleagues and also earn my status, but eventually I decided to leave and start new job. Now I can tell this was right decision, I enjoying at my workplace and thankful that I wasn’t afraid and got the right decision. I suggest everyone to read this article that helped me to get my decisions and can help you in cases like this.

Hi community,
I found a few interesting and helpful articles:
·         An article about “Hola!”, which we are familiar with thanks to Eyal Werner (thanks!) - Hola!.
·         A very interesting article that refers to the port employees’ committee. It talks about the enormous strength they have and how they prevent from the government to turn the ports to private organizations - http://www.themarker.com/markerweek/1.1909755.
·         The last article is very funny and realistic. It describes all sorts of English mistakes done mostly when we try to translate Hebrew to English. A funny example – "Don’t bother with a written proposal. You may satisfy me orally" :) - Funny!!!.

When I found this article I was thrilled because it made me feel very good, and made me really want to share this info with others.  I heard of this article from a friend in a difficult time I had, and started to use  the ways suggested in it. The change in my general feeling was almost immediately. I really recommend each and every one of you to read it and to continue to spread it with the word of mouth.

TED VIDEO - David Kelley: How to build your creative confidence

Is your school or workplace divided into "creatives" versus practical people? Yet surely, David Kelley suggests, creativity is not the domain of only a chosen few. Telling stories from his legendary design career and his own life, he offers ways to build the confidence to create... (From The Design Studio session at TED2012, guest-curated by Chee Pearlman and David Rockwell.)
David Kelley’s company IDEO helped create many icons of the digital generation -- but what matters even more to him is unlocking the creative potential of people and organizations to innovate routinel

Hi guys,
My inspiration to this make up assignment was this great video  I saw in the Ted site about Data Visualization.I think it's a really interesting subject that can  help us see things in a different way and improve our future presentations and the way we approach any data.
The video also inspired me to do a visual lesson learned as you can see here, and it was a great experience for me to do something creative in the Technion.
Hope you like it! :)

More about Data Visualization in my make up assignment-

Hi,

I'm happy to show some love and appreciation to so many classmates J
Eyal Werner, for your taking the time and putting effort in your IE make up assignment.
Tamar kirsch, for the YouTube ad block- I hate those ads!
Victoria, for all your contribution and value: The concepts you share from your studies in Germany, the eBook site and even more for the private message of recommended books.
Chen, for your patience and perfect break time notice.
Yael Bessen for the GREAT kiss implementation on your ILL
And the teaching team for working hard to deliver interesting contents each week.

Thank you all
Hello everyone!
My make up is an interesting video recommendation:

It is on TED site.
For anyone that doesn't know what TED is all about,
here is a little information about the site:
TED (Technology, Entertainment and Design) is a global set of conferences owned by the private non-profit Sapling Foundation, formed to disseminate "ideas worth spreading."
The events are now held in Long Beach and Palm Springs in the U.S. and in Europe and Asia, offering live streaming of the talks. They address a wide range of topics within the research and practice of science and culture, often through storytelling.[5] The speakers are given a maximum of 18 minutes to present their ideas in the most innovative and engaging ways they can.

I came across a video that is very relevant to the SV course:
the main idea of the speaker is understanding that A very different kind of economy who isn't just about product but is using a distributed network and is founded mainly about caring, about relationship and on what people do to one another are getting a lot more

Money is not invested in subjects that capitalizem doesn't know how to handle – feelings, friendship such.

I recommend watching the video!
enjoy...

This mail is Irrelevant !

Who is not getting along with his daily mail unwanted spam in a form of warning massages, net rumors or chain letters?
Irrelevant is a non-profit online tool that helps it's users make a rational decision about what to do with those kind of emails.
Hannan Cohen, the website administrator, manages a pool of common mail letters in Hebrew sent by his web audience. He verifies their true relevance and publish the most new ones. You can search your suspicious mail by key words and get recommendation like "forward", "do not forward" or "either way". It's important to say that every  recommendation given in the site is based on the true facts that are presented in the letters and on site manager's  own worldview, so  a use of common sense is blessed!
