Something that worked really well for us may very well benefit your projects

Something that worked for us may work for you

1. Facebook is a great instrument for creating buzz. Create a facebook group for your product.
2. Whenever an early adopter helps himself with your site in some way, ask for his permission to advertise what he did with the site, how it helped him, and how this will help other users on the site.
For Instance:

Make good metric :
1 choose ratio or a rate.
2 use it as much as possible to fix your behavior.
3 use both quantity and quality metrics to take care obvious change and less insight change.
4 use both vanity and actionable metrics to make yourself fell good and fix your behavior.
5 use both exploratory and reporting metrics to find unknown insights and keep you breast of normal operations.
6 use both leading and lagging metrics to learn from the past and predict the future.
7 use both correlated and causal metrics to understand how thins change if you make some difference on one aspect.

please notice:
1 it is not wise to use all of them when you try to change your behavior.
2 it just a benchmark for you to analysis whether your metric cover all the change your might made.

Class photo

Hi Community,

Semester ends next month and with it also ends sadly our course.
We talked a lot about the importance of information sharing with the community.
In my opinion, in order to continue the cooperation between us, even after completion the course, we need to keep our friendship as well.

I volunteered to bring a digital camera to the next lesson and to take a picture of all of us. I will post the picture in the forum, and in a few months when we want to ask for help each other, we can recall the lectures where we learned together and it will make us feel more comfortable to contact each other.

If you have any other ideas I'd love to hear.
Most important: dress up for the next lesson

Are we a real community???

First I would like to thank whoever read the title, and decided to enter my post to read it.
Last lesson, Prof. Gerstner gave us a permission to give an honest feedback on our course. At first I thought to myself, no way I'm telling whats on my mind. Then, as Prof. Gerstner kept encouraging us to also say things that will improve the course, I decided to say whats on my mind.
Our course contains various of students, from around the world. It is a great opportunity for us to realy get to know students from abroad, and learn from them new skills and so forth. You know what, we don't even have to learn specific from the abroad students. We can learn from each other, even from the students that are from here. The problem is, that we never get a chance to really share with our class mates our knowledge, and our experience. I am sure that among us we have great minds. Students with lots of tips, to really help us improve, and make the best out of the course using our small community.
I would like to suugest a way to get to know each other and use that knowledge that our community friends have, by letting each leasson 5-10 min for a student to introduce himself, and tell us his experience with the industry. That way we can get to know each other, and really use the tips we're getting from our community members and try to impliment it on our lifes.
Who's with me?!?
I'm sorry, I can't go to class today, I have an exam at the same time.

Authors@Google: Eric Ries "The Lean Startup"

I invite you to watch a very interesting lecture I have seen in the google youtube channel AtGoogleTalks by Eric Ries an author recognized for pioneering the Lean Startup movement.
Eric Ries believes that the biggest waste that product development faces today is not building things inefficiently, but building things very efficiently that nobody wants.

Google+ Search Engine Optimization - Be King of the Hill!

Unfortunately a small while ago I had to miss a class and now I would like to make it up to the community by sharing some tips regarding SEO in general and SEO in Google+ in particular from my own personal experience in the SEO market.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the process of affecting the visibility of a website or webpage in a search engine's results page.
The motivation is that the more people see your website the more visitors you'll have. And considering that for many companies their revenue stream is depended on the volume of visitors - there is no surprise the SEO industry has grown so much in the past few years.

Google is the biggest search engine in the web and through it goes around 90% of all searches online.
Therefore most optimizations are made with thought towards Google's algorithms.
Once you know how those search algorithms works (more or less) then you can manipulate the search engine by customizing your website in a way that will achieve you an higher place on the results page.

You can optimize your website in many different ways: by using smart keywords , increasing incoming and outgoing links , clever use of HTML tags etc..
Recently Google introduced it's social network Google+ that holds a few big advantages regarding SEO that regular websites don't have. Not least of which is its actually hosted by Google!

Smart use of Google+ profiles with the create optimization can create search engine "monsters" that will receive great results In the Google search and in result experience a very big increase in traffic.

For more information and more specific instruction you can visit this article.

These Companies Really Do Want to Make Your Life Better

As an investor, I always love finding companies that positively shape the way we do things.
More important, I admire businesses that can do so with every intention of not only inflating their own bank accounts, but also genuinely striving to improve their customers' lives.

If You Only Know 5 Things About Investing, Make It These

When you first start to study a field, it seems like you have to memorize a zillion things. You don't. What you need is to identify the core principles -- generally three to twelve of them -- that govern the field. The million things you thought you had to memorize are simply various combinations of the core principles.
Evolution tells you a lot about biology. A handful of cognitive biases explain most of psychology. Likewise, there are a few core principles that explain most of what we need to know about investing.

Big company OR Startup - some tips for job seekers

Investing in your Google+ profile

It takes time and effort to maintain a REMARKABLE profile, one that is serious and professional yet interesting, doesn't lack a sense of humour or a personal touch.

I have thought about an efficient division of time investment in your profile and decided to share with you guys. I'd appreciate your thoughts!

As for the percentages...

60% - Serious / Professional posts: Information & data pieces on your topics of interest, fields of work,
study or research; interesting innovations, experiments outcomes...

30% - Community / Society nurturing: Make time for the people you care about, you are part of,  share
interests with, live next to... Giving to others gives back - it's proven to work!

10% - Misc: Your hobbies, pictures & videos, jokes, personal issues unrelated to profession or community.

For each section - comment on such posts & data pieces, generate content in many forms - post, blog, debate, upload media... Don't forget to write your opinion, share and ask others to share,
intrigue and get quality feedback from your communities.

How to apply these percentages
Just make sure you're not deviating to much from them.

1. The all-in-one (week) approach:
throughout the week, divide your activity on your profile with proportion to the numbers above
(i.e. 1 misc interaction , 3 community interactions & 6 serious interactions).
- You can also choose to define custom units like 1/2 of an interaction is equal to 1 comment.

2. The inductive approach:
When your browsing through Google+ take a look at your former activity, asses and decide (considering the proportions  what kind of interaction should be next. Then, go on and share/comment accordingly. If you have something in mind that isn't in place (proportionally speaking), go ahead and share it as well - pivoting in the future will fix certain deviations and keep you on track.

Have a great weekend,
Shahar Mintz.

Collecting and organising things you love...

Hello everybody,
I'd like to introduce to the community, at least to the part that is unfamiliar with this lovely tool, to "Pinterest".
- as in Pin (your) interest,
is a rapidly growing social network, focusing not on people and their emotions or life situations, but on a variety of human interests starting from tangible products, vacations, ideas for different occasions, services & so on. You can "pin" such an interest and even follow its creator to check out more of his or her publications.
You can also read & write feedback on those pinned pieces of interest.

I've first used Pinterest when Danielle & I started planning our wedding. Danielle has been inspired from several hairdos, dresses & even the cake you've seen in my last post is almost completely a reproduction of a wedding cake we've seen on-line, on Pinterest.

As for a business opportunity, I'm starting to see many companies, mainly small boutique ones, utilizing this application and most importantly - It's community.

Try experiencing it on your own - define an interest and pin something down.
If you find something remarkable - maybe it's even worth following.

Best of wishes,
Shahar Mintz.

Hi evreyone,

I've decided to stick to the structure that Google built the standart profile.
The reason for that is that I did some thinking, trying to editing my structure, and as I went threw I realized that maybe Google's experts have done a good work with the suggestion of the standatrt profile- so why not use that?! And by that give them a credit for their great work!
I've decided that the links that I've shared on my profile will be viewable for my whole friends, so people can see what are the things that me and my friends learning in our course.
Hope you'll like my profile!

Limiting the size of the weekly reading assignment

The length of the  this week reading assignment is nearly 65 pages!! .
At the very least it lowers the level of MY happiness of the course.
Is it not better to limit reading tasks to no more than 35 pages?, So people can actually have a deep  enjoyable reading.
This is my pain point right now...

Pimp Out The Best Profile In Social Media: Google+

Google+ offers the best profile available of any social media platform and yet so many are missing the full potential. Here are some tips to create the most efficient and effective Google+ profile.
  1. Write a compelling tagline. Short, sweet and to the point but make sure it’s memorable and says something about you.
  2. The introduction is a great place to list things that you’re interested in so that people can add you to their circles if they like the same things. You can also add communities that you are in or moderate. The goal is, of course, to provide enough information for people to say “yes, I’m going to circle this person.”
  3. Make sure that you put links to all your social media profiles in the “other profiles” section and list all the blogs that you are a “contributor to” as well. Missing anything? Add it “links.”

"3D Printing and the Future of Stuff"

Did you know that 3D printing makes it possible to print drugs, organs or tissue even now? Meet the bio-printing! more about it in this short video

And more on the general topic of 3D prinitng, here is link to an interesting 4 parts article:  READ MORE

For me, the most interesting paragraph, is from part 3 - "How 3-D Printing Could Disrupt the Economy of the Future"
"As the sheer variety of these examples suggests, 3-D printing is already having a demonstrable effect on the economy. Traditionally, it has been most useful in creating prototypes. But as GE and others are showing, printers will increasingly be able to produce critical parts and final products. In 2012, 28.3 percent of the $2.2 billion global 3-D printing market was tied to the production of parts for final products rather than prototypes, according to the Wohlers Report 2013. That shift could have profound implications for the economy and for public policy."

Presentation Bad/Good Examples

Hi All,

I can surely say that I'm learning during our class how we should communicate with an audience.
It is not easy for me to speak in front of the class, especially to stand up in front of everybody and present..
After our last session, when Eitan mentioned how we should present to our community, in particular to have an eye contact and not reading from the board, I Goggled it and found a nice video.. what we should and shouldn't do.. some of the examples can be useful.. :)
